商务英语翻译应该遵循的三大原则解读

今天就让我们来详细说说商务英语的翻译原则。 (一)忠实原则 在商务英语翻译中，译语语篇对源语语篇的忠实，是要求译者能准确地 将原文语言的信息用译文语言表达出来，相比起形式，意义更为重要，因此 无需刻意苛求语法与句子结构的一致，而应追求信息对等。 如涉及贸易、合同、保险、金融等领域的商务体裁的文章，则译文应该 从措辞、结构及行文方式上忠实于源语的语言与行文规范，以再现严谨和正 式的语篇。 例 1.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rateIf the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rate，we call it forwardpremium，and if it is lower，we call it forward discount.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rate 译文：远期汇率如果比近期汇率要高，那么我们将称之为“远期升水”， 反之，我们则称之为“远期贴水”。 (二)准确原则 准确原则指翻译过程中选词要准确，概念表达要确切，数据与单位要精 确，尤其是商务英语中出现的大量专业词汇、缩略语等等，以实现译文在规 范性、礼貌性与功能等方面的对等。 例 2.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rateGeneral cargo vessel ： a vessel designed to handle break bulk cargo such as bags.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot ratecartons ， cases ， crates and drums ， either individually or in unitized or palletized loads.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rate 原译： 普通货船：一种设计用来或单独或联合或平行地装载诸如包裹、纸板箱 、 箱子、板条箱和圆桶等散装货物的货船。 改译：杂货船：一种用于单独、成组或货盘(化)装载如袋子、纸箱、箱 子、板、柳条箱、桶等杂货包装物的货船。(顾维勇，2005：8) 此例中的四处术语，原译文翻译得不够精确，只有采用准确的术语，才 能符合译文语篇使用者的要求，让读者一样感受到专业的语境。 例 3.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rateParty A shall be unauthorized to accept any orders or to collect any count onand after September 20.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rate 原译：9 月 20 日后，甲方已无权接受任何订单或收据。 改译：自 9 月 20 日起，甲方已无权接受任何订单或收据。“ on and after”是包括后面日期在内的，因此原译文与原文的实际时间相差一天，误 译会给译文语篇使用者造成经济损失。 (三)统一原则 统一原则是指要遵循惯例，“译名、概念、术语等在任何时候都应该保持 统一，不允许将同一概念或术语随意变换译名”(刘法公，2002：47)，以免产 生误解，造成信息上的不对等。 例如：letter of credit——信用证 counter-offer——还盘 bid——递盘 insurance policy——保险单 manual——用户手册 exclusive territory——独占区域 exclusive contract——专销合同 统一性原则还体现在商务文本格式的使用上，译文的语言和行文方式要 合乎商务文献的语言规范，力求文体风格上的对等。 例 4.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rateThese Rules shall govern the arbitration except that where any of these Rulesis in conflict with a provision of the law applicable to the arbitration from which theparties cannot derogate ， that provision shall prevail.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rate 译文：本规则应管辖仲裁，但如本规则任何条款同适用于仲裁而为当事 人各方所不能背离的法律规定相抵触时，则该规定应优先适用。该例为具有 法律意义的条款，译入语也必须是法律语言，否则在文体上就违背了统一原 则。 例 5.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rateThe home of your dreams awaits you behind this doo, 。 .If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rateWhether your taste bea country manor estate or a penthouse in the sky ， you will find the following pages filledwith the world’S most elegant residences.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rate 译文：打开门，恭候您的就是梦寐以求的家。无论您企盼的是一座乡间 宅第，抑或是一间摩天大楼的顶屋.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot rate翻开下面几页就可以看到世界上最高雅的 住宅供您选择。 该 例 为 一 则 房 产 中 介 广 告 。 该 广 告 中 的 await，manor，elegant，residence 等均为正式词汇，替代了 12 语中的 wait，house.If the forward exchange rate is higher than the spot ratenice，place，使文体显得高雅庄重。既能烘托商品的高贵品质， 又能满足大众推崇身份、追求品位的消费心理。源语中的几个词汇分别以“恭 候”、“企盼”、“宅第”等译出，在风格语体方面与源语基本保持了一致。 功能理论将翻译视为一种动态行为，要求译文动态对等，特别是语义信 息和风格信息的对等。 这是商务英语翻译的基本要求。因此商务英语翻译应遵循以上三条原则 ， 以期实现国际商务活动的有效进行。
