Fuel Supply System

 The purpose of any fuel supply system is to deliver fuel to the engine in a form in which it can be mixed with air to form a combustible mixture. A fuel supply system drawsfuel from the fuel tank and forces it into the fuel metering device (gasoline injectors，dieselinjection pump，or carburetor)，shown as Fig. 4. 1.

    The basic parts of a fuel supply system include：

    ．Fuel tank - stores gasoline, diesel fuel，gasohol，alcohol，LPG，or other combustible material

    ．Fuel lines - carry fuel between the tank，pump, and other parts of system

    ．Fuel filters - remove contaminants in the fuel
